James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share what elements of their characters they found most intriguing and complement each other as they discuss their different approaches to the craft
Narrative
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend at a lonely house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there is a dark side within the family that invited them. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the Danish original Speak No Evil (2022), who had befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch people were a bit socially awkward, both couples got along very well, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to the Netherlands. He briefly considered it, but decided that it would feel strange staying with people he didn’t really know – he decided to leave the family with a new friend. Her story for the film came about when she unleashed her darkest fantasies about what might have happened, had she agreed (while maintaining that the original Dutch couple had never given off bad vibes).

In this remake, the nationalities of the two families have been changed to American and British. In the bathroom, when she is washing her eye, she has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in her left eye, in her next scene, her eyes are perfectly clear. Ben Dalton: Why are you doing this to us? James Mcevoy stole the show
His performance blurs the lines between being charismatic and charming to unnerving and sinister. The remake of the Danish film with the same title follows in its footsteps for the majority of the film, however, it differs in the final act. I think the original film takes it to a level that makes it different and memorable. The remake struggles to reach the unhinging and absolutely terrifying moments of the third act that they originally created (especially the final scene in the quarry). However, the remake offers a new twist to the original.
It definitely makes you feel uncomfortable, especially when you know the nature of the hosts’ intentions
A different setting in an English farmhouse that features a different type of landscape than the original, as well as an American family as a guest. This film offers some special moments where viewers cringe (in a good way) at the conversations the couples have. I feel like the final act was a bit too Hollywood-esque, in the sense of the families’ actions and the final conclusion of the film. However, I will say that the remake does enough to justify enough for its creation, helped by a special performance by James and his co-stars. Enjoyable :)).
